Introduction
Unfortunately I did not take photos until after finishing, but before undertaking this the screen was covered in bright and dark spots and streaks from water trapped inside. After opening up and removing water, the screen does seem much clearer.
What you need
Step 1
Removing the bezel
- The bezel is simply clipped on, no glue. It comes off relatively easily with a plaster spudger or similar.

Step 2
Remove bezel
- After removing the bezel the screen can be lifted away. It is connected at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3
Opening the screen (and removing water)
- The screen can be lifted away. It is still connected in these photos.
- The screen was sealed around the edges with a black tape. In the photos here it has already been mostly peeled away.
- The screen itself is comprised of several layers of… sheets of plasticy stuff. Anti-glare layer, protective films, lcd sheet, etc. If you have water trapped in there like me, you should be able to get inbetween the various layers and carefully remove. I’m not expert here, so suggest you google the best type of treatment to use.

Step 4
Closing up
Unfortunately I didn’t take a ‘before’ photo, so you will just have to take my word for it that this is significantly improved. It has been surprisingly effective given that I was about to order a replacement screen.
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
