VisiCalc was the first spreadsheet software program developed by Dan Bricklin and programmed by Bob Frankston in 1978. It was written in the Apple BASIC language on an Apple 2 computer. VisiCalc was eventually sold to Lotus Development Corporation and was the basis for the development of the Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet application in 1983.
