Founded by Dom Hofmann and Rus Yusupov in June 2012 and later acquired by Twitter in October of the same year. Vine is a free smartphone app and online service that allows anyone to create and upload videos up to six seconds long.

Once created the Vine can be added as a Twitter post and viewed through either Twitter or the Vine website.

On October 27, 2016, Twitter announced that it would discontinue the Vine mobile app. People who enjoyed Vine should consider TikTok.
