Based on the Slackware distribution of Linux and available in four versions: Standard, Light, Live, and SOHO, VectorLinux is for the x86 platform. Beginning with version 7, VectorLinux standard edition is also available for the x86-64 platform and is named VLocity64. VectorLinux uses .tlz packaging, but can also support .tbz and .tgz as needed.
All versions of VectorLinux include two applications for system management:
- VasmCC - An application that handles the system configuration.
- Slapt-get (with Gslapt GUI) - An application that deals with software installation and uninstallation.
