Unlock may refer to any of the following:

  1. The process of enabling access to something previously inaccessible. For example, a user can unlock a document by entering a password, allowing the user to view or edit it.

  2. To change a formerly set state. For example, if caps lock is disabled, you can unlock and enable it by pressing the caps lock key.

Something that is locked but has no password can often be unlocked by moving the mouse cursor or by pressing the Esc key.
