Trisquel, also known as Trisquel GNU/Linux, is an operating system based on Ubuntu Linux, first released on January 30, 2007. It is open source and uses the Linux libre kernel — a version of the linux kernel with all proprietary code removed.
There is also a version of Trisquel designed for older or less powerful hardware, called Trisquel Mini. Richard Stallman of the Free Software Foundation has revealed that Trisquel is the operating system he chooses to run on his Lenovo ThinkPad X60.
