Released in 2012, Tinder is a popular smartphone app for online dating. It allows users to create a profile with pictures and a biography containing information about themselves. They can then view other profiles from the same geographical area, swiping either left or right to indicate interest. If two users “swipe right” on one another, they are “matched” and can start a conversation through text-based chat.

Tinder is available for free on iOS and Android. Paid features are available through in-app purchases that allow users to view and vote on more profiles.
