The Second Life game is a three-dimensional online virtual world developed by Linden Lab where users utilize client software to interact as customizable avatars. The founder of Second Life, Phillip Rosedale, originally planned to design a hardware setup that users could wear to immerse themselves in a virtual world. Eventually, the idea for a wearable device was discarded, but Second Life was released to the public as a computer program on June 23, 2003.
Features of Second Life include the ability for a user to create their objects and scripted experiences, and fully retain Copyright to the content they create.
