When viewing the Network Connections in Windows XP and 2003, users may notice a 1394 connection (1394 Net Adapter) is listed as one of the device names. A 1394 device is listed in Windows for any computer with FireWire connections or can support FireWire. Do not confuse this with a NIC, network card, or network device.
If you only see the 1394 connection listed in your Network Connections, it’s likely the network card drivers are not installed properly. It’s also possible that the card itself is malfunctioning or broken.
