On an Apple computer running macOS, the System Information utility allows users to see information about the computer’s hardware, and USB-connected devices. The macOS system information utility is similar to the Device Manager utility found in the Windows operating system.
How to open system information in macOS
- In the Apple Menu, choose About This Mac > More Info > System Report.
- Alternatively, in macOS version 10.7 (Lion) or later, you can search for System Information in the Spotlight search box.
- In versions of macOS previous to 10.7, use the System Profiler application.
Once open, you’ll see a window similar to the following example.
