A specialized computer is a hardware device that’s not as open as a general-purpose computer and more complex than a special-purpose computer. The specialized computer may have the capabilities of a general-purpose computer but is designed to only do specific tasks. Examples of specialized computers are today’s gaming consoles. These devices are primarily designed to play games but now also perform other tasks such as watching Netflix and browsing the Internet. However, without doing a lot of modifications, a user still cannot do as many tasks as a general-purpose computer.
