A remote may refer to any of the following:

  1. When referring to a connection a remote connection or connect remotely is another way of saying remote access.

  2. A hardware device that allows a user to control a device or object in another location. For example, the TV remote changes the channel, volume, or turn on and off the TV, without the viewer needing to leave their seat.
