Resilient File System, or ReFS, is a proprietary file system developed by Microsoft and initially included in Windows Server 2012. It was intended to be a replacement for NTFS and made improvements to the existing file organization system. Some of its features include removing the need for chkdsk, hard drive failure handling and redundancy (including RAID), and the support for longer file names and paths. Also, ReFS included virtualization of storage and pooling, and the automatic integrity checking and scrubbing data.
