Rank may refer to any of the following:
In general, rank is the position of a person or object in a hierarchical system. More plainly, a rank is something’s value or level relative to something else. For example, a basketball player who has the second-highest points scored in their career would be the rank two overall scorer in the sport’s history. In computer gaming, the person or team with the best win/loss ratio is called rank one or considered at the top of the competitive ladder.
In computer programming, rank generally refers to how many dimensions are in an array. For example, a three-dimensional array would be called “rank three.”
