When referring to a computer, the posture is how someone sits at their computer. Someone who has a bad posture gets sore and is less productive at the computer. Below are some tips for keeping your posture at a computer.
Computer posture suggestions
- Have a good computer chair with vertical adjustment and a good supporting back rest.
- Keep the monitor about 20 to 30-inches away (usually around arm length) from your face.
- Keep the top of the monitor level with your eyes. Your eyes should always be used to look down to read. Your neck should not need to bend down or up to see the screen.
- Keep both feet flat on the ground or foot rest in front of the chair.
- Have both the monitor and keyboard in front of you.
- While typing, your elbows should be close to a 90-degree angle.
- Keep hands flat and not bent upwards or downwards.
- Do not rest your wrists on any surface.
- Take a break or stretch every few hours or as often as possible.
