PeaZip is a file archiving tool, allowing users to compress one or more files into a single archive file, and uncompress an archive file. PeaZip also features a file manager, for organizing and finding files on a computer. It is a free, open-source program, developed using the Free Pascal programming language and available for computers with a Windows, Linux or BSD operating system.

Over 175 different file types/extensions are supported by PeaZip. It can open archive files, like ZIP, tar, 7z, PAQ & LPAQ formats, ZPAQ, gzip (.gz and .tgz), FreeArc’s ARC & WRC, bzip2, WIM, .xz, and its own native archive file format of PEA.

For encryption purposes, PeaZip supports the AES 256-bit cipher used by several archive file formats (7z, ZIP, and PEA). It also supports AES 256-bit, Blowfish, Twofish 256 and Serpent 256 encryption for FreeArc’s ARC archive format.
