NDAS, which stands for Network Direct Attached Storage, is a commercial network storage system. It connects various digital storage media (hard drives and flash memory) over a network, usually Ethernet. It utilizes the LPX (lean packet exchange) protocol to transmit data over the network, which has some performance benefits. However, because the packets used in LPX communications do not support routing, an NDAS is limited to connectivity over a LAN only.
