In general, a mother is the female parent of a child. With computers, a mother is a female pioneer who has made a significant contribution to the field of computer science. For example, Ada Lovelace (pictured) is the mother of the computer as being the world’s first computer programmer and helped Charles Babbage with the analytical engine.
