Libreboot is a free, open-source, BIOS for computers. Most computers utilize a proprietary BIOS, meaning that its code cannot be analyzed or enhanced by a community of programmers, nor may it be freely distributed. Libreboot is part of a movement to create a computer that is 100% free of company-controlled hardware and software.
The Libreboot BIOS is a key component of the Libreboot X200 laptop, a computer certified by the Free Software Foundation as “respects your freedom-compliant.” This certification means that it give users the freedom to control how the product is used, and honors their privacy.
