Created in 2004, and initially known as XBMC (Xbox Media Center), Kodi is a free home theater application for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, tvOS, and Xbox One. The application allows users to browse through and view or play movies, music, television series, photos, videos, and other entertainment media stored on the device. The interface is highly customizable, and it has various options for sorting through and playing entertainment media in many file formats.
Is Kodi illegal?
The Kodi application is completely legal. However, some users choose to add extensions to Kodi, which allow them to stream copyrighted content that they do not own and have not bought. This act is illegal and is not why the Kodi application was developed. As long as your aren’t using extensions to access content you do not own, Kodi is safe and legal.
Kodi does not come with movies, television shows, or any other media. It is designed as a tool to organize and play media that already exists on your device.
