In general, hot refers to a high temperature. For example, if your computer processor is too hot it causes your computer to reboot or shut down.
With electronics and power, the hot wire is the wire carrying the power. Often the hot wire is the black wire when you have a black and white wire. However, to help prevent any bodily harm, always use a voltage tester to verify what wire has a voltage.

In an RPG or MMORPG, HoT is short for heal over time. It describes a spell, ability, or effect that restores health gradually. For example, a player may cast a heal for 1,000 health points, but it heals for 250 health each second for four seconds.
