When referring to games, hardcore is a player or user with above average skills, abilities, or a player who plays more than the average player. Hardcore can also be a game mode. For example, with Diablo 3, a player who chooses to play hardcore cannot die. If their character does die they can no longer play with that character.
Hardcore may also refer to how a player plays a game, for example, in a MMORPG game, a PvP server is often considered more hardcore than a non-PvP server.
