, G is chat slang for a grin and is used to illustrate a grin (smile) while in text-based communication. G is a keyboard key used with the keyboard shortcuts Alt+G, Command+G, and Ctrl+G.
In a debug routine, “g” is entered to run the debug routine.
With some Logitech gaming keyboards, a “G” in a circle is a keyboard function key that enables Game mode. When enabled, Game mode disables the Windows key. For example, pressing Fn+F8 on the Logitech G513 keyboard enables and disables Game mode. When enabled, an LED indicator next to the G in a circle appears in the top-right portion of the keyboard.
With Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet programs, “G” is the seventh column of a spreadsheet. To reference the first cell in the column, you’d use “G1.”
In Adobe Photoshop, pressing the “G” key selects the paint bucket tool.
G is the SI-derived symbol of giga.
In the phonetic alphabet, “G” is often pronounced as “golf.”
G is the seventh letter of the English alphabet. The letter “G” comes after “F” and is followed by the letter “H.” To create a capitalized “G,” press Shift and G at the same time.

In ASCII, the uppercase “G” is “071” in decimal (01000111 in binary). The lowercase “g” is “103” in decimal (01100111 in binary).
Doing the Alt code Alt+71 creates a capital “G” and Alt+103 creates a lowercase “g” character.
The number 4 on a phone keypad is used to create an “G” on a US phone.
