Released on February 1, 2010, Fiverr is a website that allows anyone to buy and sell services (gigs) online. A large variety of service categories are offered on the website, including video and music production, graphic design, writing, programming, business and marketing, and tutoring. When selecting a service, users can attach instructions using audio, text images, and video. When a seller’s service is requested, the seller has a specified amount of time to accept and carry out the job, get more information, or decline the job.

In 2013, Fiverr began allowing users to set prices and charge more than $5. Today, a Fiverr seller can choose their rate, and gigs start at $5 and may be as high as $1,000. When purchasing a gig, Fiverr also charges a service fee starting at $2.50 for each transaction.
