DSL may refer to any of the following:

  1. Short for digital subscriber line, DSL is a method for home users and small businesses to have high-speed access to the Internet over standard copper lines. Capable of receiving up to 6.1 megabits per second, DSL is a great broadband solution if it’s available in your area. Because of the technology used, DSL’s availability depends on the user being within a certain distance from your phone company’s CO.

  2. Acronym for Damn Small Linux, DSL is an x86 Linux distro first released on April 13, 2005. It was intentionally made small to fit on business cards, USB drives, CompactFlash cards and small media that can store at least 50 MB.

DSL is often one of the slowest broadband solutions. We often only recommend DSL if no other faster broadband options are available or other options are too expensive.
