A doorbell camera is a device similar to a traditional doorbell but, as one may assume, has built-in camera. Doorbell cameras allow homeowners to view who is at their door remotely, from any smartphone, tablet, or computer. This device shows the user live streaming footage from in front of the equipment and can record both audio and video. Doorbell cameras also allow for a 2-way conversation before opening the door to help prevent an intruder from entering the house.

The most notable doorbell cameras are Ring and the Google Nest Hello Doorbell, each having several models available. Depending on the model chosen, the usual options include 24-hour constant recording, or a recording that is triggered by sensed motion.
