Dead is slang describing a computer component that’s no longer functioning and cannot be fixed.
Dead describes software or a project that’s no longer being developed due to various reasons. The software or project could be dead because of lack of funding, the company went out of business, or because a newer program was released. Software that’s abandoned is more appropriately called abandonware.
