D may refer to any of the following:

  1. See the D language page for further information about the D programming language.

  2. See the D drive page when referring to a drive or drive letter on a Microsoft operating system.

  3. D is an abbreviation used for depth.

  4. D is the SI-derived symbol of deca, when using a lowercase d, it’s a deci.

  5. In gaming, when using the WASD keys to control a character or another object, the D is the same as the right arrow key.

  6. D is a keyboard key used with the keyboard shortcuts Alt+D, Command+D, and Ctrl+D.

  8. With a regular expression, \d matches any decimal digit (0-9). When capitalized, \D matches any non digit.

  9. With Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet programs, “D” is the fourth column of a spreadsheet. To reference the first cell in the column, you’d use “D1.”

  10. With date notations, a lowercase d is used for the day or day of the week. For example, with a long date, it may be formatted as “dddd, MMMM d, yyyy,” which is the same as “day of week, month day, year.”

  11. In the phonetic alphabet, “D” is often pronounced as “delta.”

  12. D is the fourth letter of the English alphabet. The letter “D” comes after “C” and is followed by the letter “E.” To create a capitalized “D” press Shift and D at the same time.

In ASCII, the uppercase “D” is “068” in decimal (01000100 in binary). The lowercase “d” is “100” in decimal (01100100 in binary).

Doing the Alt code Alt+68 creates a capital “D” and Alt+100 creates a lowercase “d” character.

The number 3 on a phone keypad is used to create an “D” on a US phone.
