Released in 1989 by Steinberg, Cubase is a professional DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), with an emphasis on music production using MIDI instruments. It includes a library of virtual instruments to record with, and digitization tools for physical instruments. VST instruments are also supported to allow third-party instrument plugins. Effects and adjustments can be applied to allow for complete control of the sound produced by each layer. Additional features include video synchronization tools and collaboration interfaces.

Cubase is supported on Windows and macOS computers. It is available for purchase on the official Cubase homepage. Cubase Pro, the premium version of the software, has a retail price of $597.98.
